After having consolidated its position in its country of origin, Mundifios is ready to conquer new markets all over the world.
This year’s first quarter, our yarn specialist visited three continents – Europe, America and Asia – and stopped in five countries – Colombia, Poland, Italy, China and Mexico – to be present at the trade fairs of Colombiatex, Next Season, Filo, Yarn Expo and Exintex, respectively. «We feel the need to diversify our markets», states Joaquim António Fernandes, Administrator of Mundifios. He explains that «Our strategy is, above all, to let people know who we are and understand the potentialities of each market». Until the end of the year, as a real globetrotter, Mundifios will also travel for the first time to the showrooms of Expofil in Paris, Textillegprom in Moscow, Expotextil Peru in Lima and Première Vision in São Paulo, and we will also be present again in the Filo in Milan. «We are starting the process of identifying the trade fairs and markets which are most suitable to our offer.
We have already identified some which we shall not return to and others which, on the opposite, have a lot of potential and where we will be next year», announces Joaquim António Fernandes. At present, exports represent about 30% of the total sales of the company which totalled 69,4 million euros in 2013. The main external markets are in Europe - Spain, France and Belgium - and in North Africa. The internationalisation process shall consist of «expanding the focus to new markets, creating a network of contacts supported by a global distribution network with delivery points in several countries and analysing other continents, thus decreasing the exposition to the European market», explains Mundifios Administrator.
